Who We Are

LeapLetter ("we", "our", "us") operates leapletter.co, a service that generates AI-powered cover letters and career documents. This policy explains what data we collect, how we handle it, and your rights regarding that data.

Data We Collect

Files You Upload

Resumes you upload are processed in memory on our servers and are not stored in our long-term databases. To protect you from losing progress during checkout, login, refresh, or retry flows, your browser may keep the most recent resume as a temporary local copy for up to 30 days. That browser-local copy stays on your device and can be cleared by removing the upload, starting over, clearing this site's data in your browser, or waiting for the local retention window to expire. We cannot restore that browser-local resume from your account or another device. During generation, server-side resume data may also be kept in temporary retry checkpoints for roughly 2 hours so an interrupted run can resume without starting from zero.

Job Posting Information

Job URLs or pasted job descriptions you provide are used only during the generation process and retry recovery. This data is sent to our AI providers for analysis and may be stored temporarily in retry checkpoints for roughly 2 hours so an interrupted generation can resume without starting over.

Generated Documents

Cover letters, skills analyses, and other generated documents are stored temporarily for 24 hours to allow you to download them. After 24 hours, they are permanently and automatically deleted from our servers.

Email Address

We collect your email address to send download links and, for subscribers, magic login links. We may also use your email to respond to support, privacy, billing, or abuse-prevention issues. We do not use your email for marketing unless you explicitly opt in.

Payment Information

All payment processing is handled exclusively by Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record. We never see, store, or have access to your credit card number, billing address, or other payment details. Lemon Squeezy maintains its own privacy policy governing payment data.

Analytics

We use privacy-focused, cookieless analytics to understand how visitors use our site, such as page views and conversion metrics. We do not use advertising trackers, and we do not sell analytics data.

Third-Party Services

We use third-party services for payment processing, email delivery, hosting, analytics, job-posting retrieval, and AI document generation. Your resume and job data are sent to AI providers only as needed to generate the documents you requested and are handled under those providers' applicable data policies. Payment information is handled entirely by our payment processor and we never see or store your card details.

What We Do Not Do

  • We do not sell your data to anyone, ever.
  • We do not share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.
  • We do not use tracking cookies or advertising pixels.
  • We do not store your resume in our long-term databases; temporary retry checkpoints may retain resume data for roughly 2 hours only to recover interrupted generations.
  • We do not retain generated documents beyond 24 hours.
  • We do not build profiles of our users.

Data Retention

We retain minimal data and keep generation content temporary:

  • Resumes: processed in memory on our servers and not stored in our long-term databases. Temporary server-side retry checkpoints may keep resume data for roughly 2 hours to support interrupted generations. The most recent resume may be kept locally in your browser for up to 30 days for checkout/login recovery and retry flows, and is cleared when you remove the upload, start over, clear site data, or the local retention window expires. We cannot restore that browser-local resume from your account or another device.
  • Generated documents: stored for 24 hours so you can download them, then permanently deleted. If you provided an email, documents are also sent as PDF attachments.
  • Your name and email: retained for billing, account access, support, abuse prevention, and generation history. We also log which document types were generated and the subscription tier for operational analytics. We do not store the content of your resume, cover letter, or generated documents beyond the 24-hour download window.
  • Subscriber data: email, tier, status, billing-period timestamps, and usage counts are retained while your subscription is active. After cancellation, we delete or anonymize LeapLetter-held subscriber records tied to your email unless we need to keep limited records for billing, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or dispute handling.

Your Rights

Because we store limited personal data, most data protection requests are straightforward. We will verify that the email address belongs to you before completing an access, portability, or deletion request.

  • Access: you can request a copy of account, subscriber, generation, provider-usage, and operational metadata we hold about your email address
  • Deletion: you can request that we delete or anonymize LeapLetter-held subscriber, account, generation, provider-usage, and temporary entitlement/cache records tied to your email address, subject to records we must keep for billing, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or dispute handling
  • Portability: we can export the LeapLetter-held data tied to your email address in a standard JSON format upon request

Payment card data and merchant billing records are handled by Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record. If your request involves billing records we do not control, we will point you to the correct Lemon Squeezy process. Support correspondence may also remain in our email provider or support inbox where retention is needed to document and resolve the request.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or a notice on our website. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
